Steve Hall qualified as a PGA professional in 1994 and has been the Head Golf Professional at The Suffolk Golf Club since 1997.
Today, Steve is recognised as one of East Anglia's top teaching Professionals. His passion for golf is apparent from the moment you first meet him and there is nothing more fulfilling to him than to share his experience with others of all levels and ages as he teaches, mentors and coaches them.
Steve has a personal ambition to make golf more accessible and inclusive to all.
From an early age Steve found golf fascinating and started playing at the age of ten when his dad suggested moving from football to golf due to Osgood-Schlatter disease (giving him bad knee pain). He remembers watching Seve Ballesteros win The Masters in 1983 and that’s when his passion for Golf really set in, he decided that he wanted to be the best golfer he could possibly be.
With focus and determination his game progressed quickly, he played for the County as a Junior and continued to play throughout his school years. Although Steve’s academic results pointed to him taking accountancy or legal routes for this career, he was adamant that he wanted his career to include golf. He secured a weekend job in a Pro Shop, and just before he was due to start his A Levels, he was offered a full-time role at the Shop. Accepting the role was not a popular choice for some, but Steve decided to take a year out to work as an Apprentice in the shop and see if he enjoyed it. He loved it and a few months later he turned Professional.
Steve played in many tournaments but unfortunately just wasn’t quite good enough to join the worlds’ elites. However, his love for the game continued, he enjoyed improving his own game but realised just how much pleasure he gained from helping others improve their game from all aspects (Steve says it’s a buzz that he still feels today). From improving swings to building mental strength and resilience, gaining focus and all round confidence building, Steve studied Sports Psychology.
Since, Steve has gained the Golf Psychology Certificate through the PGA, has worked with Yeast (mental toughness training) and The Golf Foundation (on the Unleash Your Drive programme).
From the moment you meet Steve you can tell that he is passionate about every aspect of Golf and teaching it. Using his experience and technical excellence, combined with psychology-based tips, he provides a unique learning experience that is enjoyable, memorable and very effective.
